Jake has a huge admiration for Pensacola Mist. They are a synthwave / synthpop trio from Berwick-upon-Tweed, dubbed to have employed 'the best use of male / female vox in synthwave'! So, it was a joy for Jake to be asked to work with Dan, Oliver and Melissa, who all shared similar 1980s musical influences, to make an electrifying night for the electronic music fans of Newcastle.
There was a real synergy between the two acts on the evening, and the crowd enjoyed getting to experience the more experimental and instrumental side of synthwave from Jake, followed by the more vocal-orientated, structured song side of the genre from Mist.
The music from the band is only one aspect of their amazingness: they also put together the most mesmerising light show you could ever imagine. The showmanship is there to further this too.
In summary, on the 12th of May 2023, a neon-drenched Cluny II hosted an encapsulation of the full synthwave genre spectrum, which totally wowed spectators!
